Harry Potter Treat : Butterbeer

The latest Harry Potter movie 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' releases today! Unfortunately I wasn't able to get tickets for opening night as I was caught up with work and realised too late so I have tickets for Sunday night instead. I'm super excited!

Since I'm an avid fan I figured I would try out a recipe that is Harry Potterish! In the book the one thing that always intrigued me was the butterbeer...it is described as being warm and soothing on a cold day with that bubbleish tickle. Sounds like a warm soda with a butterish richness.

So with no idea on where to begin I searched on google and found this recipe.

Butterbeer

1 cup (8 oz) club soda or cream soda
½ cup (4 oz) butterscotch syrup (ice cream topping)
½ tablespoon butter
Measure butterscotch and butter into a 2 cup (16 oz) glass. Microwave on high for 1 to 1½ minutes, or until syrup is bubbly and butter is completely incorporated. Stir and cool for 30 seconds, then slowly mix in club soda. Mixture will fizz quite a bit. Serve and enjoy a perfectly warm Hogwarts treat for two!

I haven't had a chance to make it yet as I don't have butterscotch syrup at home...but I'll try it out over the weekend. Just wanted to share it with anyone out there who is as big of a potterhead as me!

Now let me ask you...do you have a movie/book obsession?

I like the idea of making food from books. Think of the Magic Faraway Tree with the pop biscuits and toffee shocks. They sounded so good!

Great minds think alike! Let me know how it goes! I've also been looking for a butterbeer recipe, but have been leaning towards a butterscotch milk recipe....
