A Love Affair

Over the CNY break I stumbled across a place that not only serves a delicious breakfast but it’s super affordable too! I was walking around on the ground floor of Ikano trying to figure out where to eat…I was craving something hearty and yet not too filling…and that is when I came across The Pie Affair.

It is a colourful little spot with a huge mural on the wall picturing a pie with birds coming out of it…It’s a scene from a popular nursery rhyme which I can’t quite remember right now.

The bright colors weren’t the first thing to attract me though…it was the breakfast set at only RM5…yes you heard correctly…breakfast sets are almost never that cheap! Unless of course you go to a mamak and ask for a teh tarik and a roti canai…but put those kinds of places aside and think of a quality restaurant serving western food…wouldn’t that price catch your eye too?

This set offers a snack pie (choice of beef, chicken, or fish), cut fruits, and coffee or an iced tea. Very reasonable don’t you think? As for taste…the beef pie came encased in a buttery crust that had just the right amount of flakiness. The meat was spoon tender (you could cut through it just using a spoon) swimming in a rich sauce with baby vegetables…this satisfied my craving for light and hearty at the same time.

The pie was accompanied by cut melon and I chose the iced tea. All in all it was a nice breakfast and for RM5 I couldn’t ask for more!
