Marmalade

Sometimes as a treat for lunch my colleagues and I will pop over to this cute little cafe...Marmalade...its whimsical decor, huge selection of magazines, and more importantly the large selection of healthy and delicious food is often what brings us there when we've got a bit of extra cash to splash.

The salad menu is a delight with names like ‘Sounds of Havana’, ‘Oceanic Citrus’ and ‘Avocado Accents’ how can you even resist? Today Aida and I decide to share a bowl of ‘Sounds of Havana’…this is a melange of roasted chicken cubes, pineapple chunks, red and yellow bell peppers, nuts, haloumi cheese, and a pineapple vinaigrette.

Look at all the colors! Aren’t they festive? This was wonderful with the sweetness coming from the pineapple…with the smoky roasted taste of the chicken…and a distinct salty touch added with the haloumi cheese. Oh so good!

I thought the salad wouldn’t be enough (turns out I was wrong) so I ordered some pita bread with a tapenade dip and a hummus dip.

The pita bread came out nice and warm…the tapenade was very good…chunky enough to make out the kalamata olive pieces with a strong salty and tangy edge…it is nicely evened out with a smooth olive oil...so much olivey goodness! I honestly could make a meal out of that tapenade and pita…the hummus is mild and smooth…this is good on it’s own…but even better when paired with the tapenade…the flavours tend to round out…

This healthy meal came up to RM27. A little pricey for lunch…but when you factor in the nutrition value and the taste…it’s definitely worth every penny!

If you get this month's Time Out, they have a voucher valid for a RM20 meal here. Probably a better deal depending on the size.

That salad is festive, and I love haloumi. Salty haloumi and sweet pineapple sounds great. The tapenade sounds good too - it's time I tried making one.

OMG Alex! That Marmalade menu was designed by me! This is surreal seeing it on your blog.

Marmalade was a previous client of mine and really nice lady. Try the lambshank next time, it's to die for... if you're a meat lover that is...

Anita - That is true :)

Arwen - Mmm yes haloumi is wonderful! And tapenade is such a treat..

550ml - Yes their salads are wonderful and filling!

Lorraine - haha how true...it balances out and you can eat heavier later on :)

Happy Happy - Once in a while greasy food is good...but that's why I have a lot of light meals and salads to balance it out.

BurpandSlurp - I'm sure they have great places like this in the states!

TheNomadGourmand - Pink Sage has a really good breakfast!! Hmm it's been quite a while since I last went...I would love your voucher!! Ha ha...maybe we can do Marmalade together.
