It's not you...it's me...

My Dearest Garlic,

I know I haven't been very fair to you lately and that things have been kind of rough. You've spent many nights at home alone waiting for me to return and yet I've been neglecting you with excuses of work and such. I really have tried to put some effort into our relationship...but without a kitchen to call my own I really can't give you the attention you desire.

I still love you but I can't be there for you like I once was and it hurts me...but I'm sure it hurts you even more...

We've had some good times though... I can still remember the first time I met you as you sat upon that bed of potatoes...It was love at first sight...and no one can deny that! There was also that time I roasted a 40 clove garlic chicken...or the time when I added you to parmesan mashed potatoes...or even the time I minced you up raw...added a dash of soy sauce and enjoyed you with rice and sambal...good times...good times...

Which is why you should have more than I can currently give you...they do say if you love someone set them free...if they return you know they were yours to begin with....so Garlic, I'm setting you free...I hope one day we can meet again and rekindle our love...once I have my own beautiful kitchen and I can give you what you deserve...I'll make an honest man out of you...one day I promise...

But for now I think it's best we go our separate ways...I'll miss you...

Love,

Me

An Ode To Garlic

A Garlic post to keep the Vampires away! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Oh Garlic, I still remember the first time we met. You were served up on a bed of fried potatoes. There you were sitting innocently among the potatoes with parsley sprinkled in your hair. You had your best shirt on,it was thin and paperlike in an ivory cream color. Instantly I knew that you were special, you were different, unlike anyone I had ever met before. To my pleasant surprise you were scooped onto my plate along with your potato buddies. I shyly poked at you, unaware of how I was supposed to approach you. Then I glanced around the table and saw how everyone else was doing it.

I squeezed you out of your paperlike encasing and took a bite. It was a flavor unlike anything I was used to. A combination of sweet and succulent paired with a savory zing. I was in love...I couldn't understand why we had never crossed paths before. Afterall, the minute I tasted you I knew we were meant to be.

Garlic, you have been there for me eversince that day many many years ago. You have been my flavor of choice, not just simply my flavor of the month. You are so versatile that I have been able to include you in all my meals. You are quite the popular one as my friends enjoy having you for dinner. You, my dear, shall always be welcome at the dinner table.

And sweetie if it were only possible you'd be my dessert too...

But Alas! Every girl needs her space..and I suppose I can't always have you there with me...I need to learn to be independent from you while still loving and embracing our relationship.

Garlic, you will always be the one for me...none other shall ever take your place.
