Sometimes when I'm feeling a bit peckish it can be very easy to go to the fridge and break off a piece of chocolate or grab a bag of crisps...either way it's a quick form of hunger satisfaction but it's certainly not healthy!
I decided to use my spare time to make some healthy snacks so that when hunger strikes there's something that is healthy, nutritious, and delicious to chomp on.
This protein filled mixed nut treat certainly satisfies all of those categories and it can be stored in an airtight container for months. I decided to go with Cashews and Almonds but you can use any nut that you enjoy:
Spiced Roasted Nuts 1 Cup Almonds
1 Cup Cashews
3 Tbs Tamari
2 Tbs Honey
1 Tbs Sesame Chili Oil (You can use regular sesame for this as well)
1 Tsp Ground Coriander
1 Tsp Ground Cumin
1/2 Tsp Cayenne
-Spread the nuts out on a baking tray and place in the oven to roast at 175C for a few minutes just till they brown
-Toss the nuts while they are still hot with the tamari, honey, sesame oil and all the spices
- Put them back in the oven for 5mins and then take them out to cool
- Keep in an airtight container and enjoy!

That's a nice idea. It would be useful to have a healthy snack ready to go. It's a pain to have to prepare something when you're starving.
Arwen- That's so true! And it's usually when we're starving that we grab the first thing around and it's usually bad snack food :)
